Integrative
Integrative refers to a holistic and flexible approach that combines elements from different theoretical orientations—such as Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic, and Humanistic—into a single, unified framework. Rather than adhering to a "one size fits all" philosophy, an integrative counselor selects specific techniques and concepts based on the client’s unique needs, personality, and cultural background. This process isn't just a random "buffet" of methods (often called eclecticism); instead, it is a deliberate, evidence-based synthesis designed to address the client on multiple levels, including their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and physiological responses.
