Medication Management
Medication Management is defined as a collaborative, holistic process focused on the oversight of psychotropic medications to ensure they are used safely and effectively as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. While counselors generally do not prescribe, the American Counseling Association (ACA) emphasizes their role in monitoring client adherence, identifying side effects, and facilitating communication between the client and the prescribing physician. It is viewed as an integration of pharmacological and psychological support, where the counselor provides essential psychoeducation to empower the client in their recovery journey.
