Life Coaching
Life Coaching is defined as a wellness-based practice that focuses on helping functional individuals reach specific personal or professional goals, enhance performance, or navigate life transitions. Unlike professional counseling, which is a healthcare service focused on diagnosing and treating mental health disorders or healing past trauma, life coaching is future-oriented and primarily concerned with personal growth, action-planning, and accountability. While the ACA acknowledges that counselors may incorporate coaching techniques, they maintain a strict ethical distinction: coaching is about optimization and achievement for those already at a baseline of healthy functioning, whereas counseling is about remediation and mental health clinical care.
