School Issues
School Issues encompass a broad range of academic, social, and emotional challenges that impede a student’s educational development and personal well-being. According to the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), these issues are defined as barriers to learning that fall within three primary domains: academic achievement, career development, and social-emotional growth. Common school issues include learning disabilities, chronic absenteeism, bullying, and adjustment disorders, as well as systemic challenges like lack of access to resources. School counselors address these through a "Whole Child" approach, utilizing data-driven interventions to ensure that every student has the psychological and environmental support necessary to succeed in a diverse educational setting.
