Weight Loss
Weight Loss is not defined as a purely physical metric, but rather as a behavioral and psychological process involving the management of eating behaviors, body image, and emotional regulation. While medical associations focus on BMI or caloric deficits, the counseling perspective—often guided by the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the Association for Creativity in Counseling (ACC)—emphasizes "Weight Management" or "Disordered Eating Intervention." This approach views weight-related issues through a biopsychosocial lens, focusing on the underlying emotional triggers, self-efficacy, and the development of a sustainable, healthy relationship with food and body identity rather than just a reduction in body mass.
