Family Systems
Family Systems is not only a collection of independent individuals, but as an interdependent emotional unit where members’ behaviors are inextricably linked. Grounded in General Systems Theory, this perspective posits that a change in one person—the "identified patient"—inevitably ripples through and affects the entire structure. Counselors use this framework to move away from individual "blame" and instead analyze the patterns, boundaries, and hierarchies that maintain the family’s equilibrium, or homeostasis.
