Trauma-Focused approach is defined as a clinical framework that treats a client's symptoms through the lens of their past or present traumatic experiences. Rather than viewing behaviors as "maladaptive," this model views them as self-protective adaptations to overwhelming stress. It prioritizes the "Four Rs": Realizing the widespread impact of trauma, Recognizing signs and symptoms, Responding by integrating trauma knowledge into practice, and actively seeking to Resist re-traumatization. The core shift moves the clinical question from "What is wrong with you?" to "What happened to you?"
