Spirituality
Spirituality is a universal, innate human capacity to seek meaning, purpose, and transcendence. It is described as a multidimensional experience that involves a sense of connection to oneself, others, nature, and the sacred, whether or not that experience is expressed through a formal religious framework. For counselors, spirituality is viewed as a core component of a client's identity and a potential resource for resilience, requiring a "spiritual competencies" approach that integrates these beliefs into the therapeutic process with sensitivity and respect.
